History / Mission Statement & Objectives

In 1982, there was an immense threat to the weights and measures trade due to the implementation of periodical amendments in the weights and measures act and its enforcement rules. The confusion in enforcing the act and rules gave much trouble to the metric licensees. At this juncture, a team of licensed members in Madurai, viz., Mr.R.Sankaran, Mr.K.R.Rajendran, Mr.V.S.Jayachandran and team met together and conceived an idea to form an Association for License holders for redressal. The eldest senior person in the trade Mr.R.Sankaran was requested /selected to occupy the Chair of President, supported by Mr.K.R.Rajendran as Secretary and Mr.V.S.Jayachandran as Treasurer, then MADURAI RAMNAD WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS, REPAIRERS ASSOCIATION in Madurai was formed.

Later the importance of such Association was felt by eminent persons in our trade from various cities and joined hands with the Madurai team and named the association as TAMILNADU WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS, REPAIRERS ASSOCIATION.

All valuable persons from big cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem etc., put their mind and hands together so that the association activities spread over to state level organization. Then the name of the association was amended as TAMILNADU WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS AND REPAIRERS ASSOCIATION. Shortly called TNWMMDR ASSOCIATION.

Since then, so many gentlemen occupied the association post and gave various dimensions to it. Due to their hard work, our association has grown by leaps and bounds. Now it has more than 600 members, 12 office bearers and 21 Executive committee members spread all over TAMILNADU.

The periodical EC meeting takes place at all parts of the state in every quarter finds the remedy for any type of problems to its members. The seminar teaches the legal obligations, clears the technical issues to its members and integrates them to run a healthy trade. The periodical meetings and interaction with the legal metrology officials ensures the good rapport with them.

Though the president, the secretary, the treasurer and the office bearers act as the pillars of the association, they never hesitate to delegate association work to the right person irrespective of their designation, which makes the association still stronger.

More over Mr.V.I.A.FAROOK who has accomplished three TRADE FAIRS in successive years for our association which makes the suppliers and buyers to shake hands with each other in a single window. It also enriches the member's technical and commercial knowledge in this trade.
